This mysterious island was located off the coast of Mercer, Ohio. It was the home of the Vagabond, an android created by Russ Willard.

History[]

As part of his experiments at the Mercer Center for Experimental Physics, founder/director Russ Willard created the android known as the Vagabond. The android was not dangerous, but people feared it due its unusual appearance and screechy vocalizations. Russ therefore sent it away on a canoe to live on this island.

One day, Russ's son George Willard traveled to the island along with his friends Chris and Adam on a dare. Once there, they decided it would be funny to play a prank on him by leaving him alone on the island. He was bitten by a venomous insect and upon exploring the island had a harrowing encounter with the Vagabond, which ultimately resulted in the Vagabond losing one of its arms. George was then finally rescued from the island and as a result of the bite ended up losing his own arm, which was then replaced by a mechanical arm. His father then told him to never go back to the island, or tell anyone what he had seen there.

Many years later, when he was all grown up, he learned the truth of the Vagabond from his mother, Klara, after Russ had passed away. Although he had long feared both the island and the Vagabond, he came to realize his mistake. He returned to the island, where he made peace with the Vagabond and offered his own mechanical arm as a replacement for the one that the Vagabond had lost.[1]
